Peter van Bueren

  • Peter van BuerenPeter van Bueren (Amsterdam, 1942). Studied political and social sciences and has written  about cinema since 1964 in several newspapers and magazines.

    For many years he was editor of the film page of the Dutch daily De Volkskrant. He left this newspaper in 2002 and got a Lifetime Achievement Tiger Award of the International Film Festival Rotterdam for ‘building a bridge between independent films and filmmakers and a large audience.’  Since then he has been freelance.

    He is advisor for several film festivals and works as a selector for the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

    He is co-founder of the Circle of Dutch Filmcritics, KNF and, for two years, was a member of the board of  Fipresci, and many times jury member in festivals all over the world. His favorite football club is Ajax.
